objects in the mirror are closer than they appear
It's been a rough week; but no matter how low I feel there's always one thing that is guaranteed to make things better...

murakami at versailles
From September 14 to December 12, Takashi Murakami is exhibiting at the Chateau de Versailles. This seems like the perfect excuse for me to finally get to Versailles.

the Sarkiiapone
One day a frog was sitting by the bank of the river enjoying the sunshine. A scorpion approached the frog and asked him for a ride across the river. "Frog", said the scorpion, "I need you to carry me across the river upon your back.”
The frog considered this request and replied "Scorpion, I know that if I carry across the river upon my back, you will poison me on the other side. I cannot carry you across the river upon my back."
"Frog", again said the scorpion, "Please, I have no wish to harm you, I promise. I just need to go across the river to find food. There is nothing left on this side for me to eat."
The frog considered the request again and then agreed to help the scorpion get across the river.
In the middle of the river, the frog felt a sharp sting in his back. The scorpion had stung him. "Scorpion!", cried the frog, "You have killed me and yourself as well. Why have you done this?"
"Because I am a scorpion...and that is my nature."
... sometimes things just are the way they are, and that's all there is to say about that.

it gets better
The It Gets Better Project is the greatest idea. I love Dan Savage. And seriously, all the queer kids out there - hell, all the kids of whatever stripe that are going through difficult times - need to know that it really does get better.
Everybody get out your webcam and make a video now.
propinquity
The Hero’s Journey - or monomyth - is a pattern of narrative identified by Joseph Campbell that appears in drama, storytelling, myth, religious ritual, and psychological development. It describes the typical adventure of the archetype known as The Hero, the person who goes out and achieves great deeds on behalf of the group, tribe, or civilization.

Does it have to do with class and money? It has to do with dreams.
Some pictures from Take Ivy by Teruyoshi Hayashida. Beautiful photographs, and the adorable prepster style reminds me of the Boy.

they have immense vitality
Today is September 11, and the italian sent me the Sean Penn segment of the film. Ernest Borgnine's performance is amazing. I don't think it is possible to watch this and not cry.
