planet spiralling into star

according to the guardian, astronomers have discovered a giant planet on a collision course with its sun.

apparently the planet is travelling on a trajectory that will ultimately see it crash into the star.

gravity? or perhaps the planet is so enamoured with his firey friend that he would rather burn up than keep safe distance ...
