the sky is about to explode
this weekend we went to the fringe festival night market. delicious homemade ice-pops, fixie documentaries, j's tasty tacos & all the crafty goodness you could handle, plus acrobats from the spiegeltent. while we were disappointed with the absence of hawkers we capped the evening off with yummy indonesian at sparrow.

baby will rock
I'm so excited - we just bought these for the Riceball's first concert - Bon Iver, in March. No doubt they will play:
books not bombs
Lately I've been reading about lots of excellent ideas for starting up little community building/book sharing initiatives - little free library, bookcrossing, and more. I am totally inspired and can't wait to get started with our own little project at BIIB headquarters! Has anyone heard of any other fun ways to bomb their neighborhood with literature?

The evenings are really starting to heat up around here (record breaking january temperatures this week apparently), and last night we made the most of it with the riceball's first picnic dinner.

you know, for kids
it's been ages since i have done the blogger 101 post of a bunch of random consumer goods i love - but i figure with the riceball rapidly approaching six months (okay, four months - but we're thinking about solid food which makes him way old, right?). So, here are "a bunch of random consumer BABY goods i love"...

on our first date without the riceball...
We checked out the Hobart Deli; and our phones: obsessively. So, okay, maybe we weren't quite ready for going out without our little man, but it was lovely to spend some time together alone for the first time in almost four months. And we are doing it again, for realsies, this Friday when we have tickets to Ira Glass. Luckily, we have the best baby sitting duo in town!

dans mon jardin
today I continued my efforts to increase the greenery in our house by mounting a staghorn fern. there are several handy how-to's online on this topic; I used a mix of these instructables from burke's backyard and apartment therapy.
